Our story started on a tennis court.
I was giving her a tennis lesson, and somewhere between forehands and backhands we started talking. After the lesson, we exchanged a few text messages… and then she completely ghosted me. Just like that — gone. Apparently my tennis coaching skills weren’t enough to keep her around.
But luckily for me, fate — and the WTA Finals — had other plans.
When I heard the WTA Finals were coming to Fort Worth, I knew I had one last shot. I happened to have two front-row seats to the finals, and suddenly I had the perfect excuse to reach out again. You could say the trap was set.
Thankfully, she said yes.
That night turned out to be much more than just a tennis match. Somewhere between the serves, rallies, and a lot of laughter, something really special started. What began as a simple tennis lesson turned into dinners, long conversations, and eventually a love story neither of us expected.
Looking back, I’m really glad she ghosted me the first time — because it led to the moment that brought us back together.
And today, I’m even more grateful that she said yes again… this time for forever.
